Tried a clean install in the surface pro 2 and failed to activate, the generic key stored in the bios didn't worked. The key is a default key that is blocked from being activated in another machine. What gets registered in the server is your hardware ID so if you connect to the internet to activate, it will search for your Hardware ID.
